I was referred to Clarity Hearing by my GP.

Being told I had a hearing problem whilst in my 40's was a shock in itself, then having to deal with hearing aids to assist with my loss was a reality I found hard to accept.
Whilst family members were telling me I should have my hearing checked and I was struggling to hear friends speak when out at social gatherings, I still felt I could hear sufficiently.

However the team at Clarity Hearing treated me with such kindness and empathy I felt totally comfortable at all times. They allowed me to come to terms with the need to have hearing aids in my own time. When I finally accepted I needed them and was ready to have them fitted, Clarity Hearing were marvellous. Many thanks for your care and attention on my recent visits for the fitting and adjusting of my Phonak micro-hearing aids. These aids really do make a difference, in all listening and sound situations. They are light and are very easy to forget once they are in their rightful place. The micro units are not affected by wind noise and are microphone and telephone friendly. A big plus for me is the small volume control remote. This is a very effective unit for personal listening and enjoyment of music etc. I can once again hear my feet on the pavement and much much more.

Noises! Sounds! Telephone! – When you can’t hear them it can be very stressful and frustrating. Having to continually ask people to repeat themselves or to have people look at you strangely because you’ve answered them with something irrelevant to the conversation can be embarrassing. All that is now in the past thanks to my Widex hearing aids and the staff at Clarity Hearing Solutions. I am now enjoying sounds I had forgotten existed. The hearing aids are very comfortable to wear and the clarity of sound is tremendous. Due to the stress and frustration of not being able to hear properly, I suffered with tinnitus. Now, with the help of the Widex hearing aids, I no longer find tinnitus an annoying condition – it has almost disappeared! Thanks a lot.

PS My wife now has to turn the volume up on the radio and TV so that she can hear them as my hearing is now very acute and I don’t have to have them so loud.

The Widex hearing aids have given me and my husband a new outlook on life. For me it is because my husband is no longer frustrated at trying to hear, and because he is now happier and confident. It is very rewarding to now see him in social situations actually able to hear and answer people correctly. I can’t thank Widex enough for giving my husband back a life of hearing.

I have been farming and orcharding for some years and have worked around a lot of machinery. My wife had noticed that I wasn’t hearing well for ages and I was becoming more aware of it as time went on. When I went to the club for a beer with friends I was struggling to hear the conversations and sometimes just nodded my head or laughed when everyone else laughed but I wasn’t hearing the jokes. At home I had the TV volume up louder than my wife liked and I was getting her to repeat herself a lot which she got frustrated with.

I took the plunge and went for a hearing check up at Clarity Hearing in Papamoa. The audiologist, Maria, suggested that I might be eligible for ACC funding for hearing aids because of my work around noisy machines. ACC accepted my claim and Maria fitted me with Widex hearing aids.

The aids have made a huge difference. I can actually hold conversations with people and not have to concentrate hard or take a guess at what’s been said. I can go to the club and hear my mates and can join in. My wife is thrilled because we can watch the TV at the same volume and both hear it comfortably. The Widex aids I have don’t block up my ears so they’re really easy to wear and I’m not conscious of them. Most people don’t notice I’m wearing them either.

All in all I’m really glad I did something about it. I probably should have gone for a check up years ago but its better late than never. There must be loads of other blokes out there like me who have worked around machinery and don’t hear so well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend they do something. The whole process has been a lot easier and the outcome much better than I ever expected.

It has been some 6 months since I received my hearing aids, which one of my kids noted matched my hair – grey.

Yet now with my hearing aids, which are so small, not many people notice them, I now see other people looking as confused as I used to.

Hearing loss was something that slowly crept up on me, from being in noisy work environments and some sporting activities I was involved in.

I could not recommend strongly enough to anyone who suspected they have hearing loss, the benefit of visiting an Audiologist like Maria at Clarity Hearing Solutions – for me it has been life changing.

The aids are just great; they have made a vast difference in my ability to hear the television at normal volume levels, understand clearly the spoken word over the telephone, and more importantly, the ability to hear and understand what my wife is saying to me, particularly while driving in the car. For me personally, I feel that the aids are of greatest benefit when in a crowded situations, like weddings, family gatherings etc.

My normal working day involves an eleven hour shift for an emergency service, which means I am wearing the aids continuously for about thirteen hours. I wear glasses and have had no difficulty fitting the aids beside the arms around the back of the ears. Cosmetically the aids are unobtrusive, I have had comments like " I didn't realise you are wearing hearing aids". They fit well, are easy to clean, maintain and change the batteries.

I have had little difficulty in making the adjustment to wearing the hearing aids. I find them very comfortable; they relieve those frustrating situations of not being able to hear what is being communicated by not having to ask people to continuously repeat themselves.

Maria, thanks once again for your professional assistance in setting me up with what I can only say has been a tremendous benefit, not only to me personally, but also to my family, friends, and work colleagues.
