Glossary of terms

Today's hearing aids are so smart with many now using sophisticated computer technology and inbuilt programmes to precisely compensate for your unique hearing loss.  As with any industry dependent on computers, digital sound etc, there are new acronyms and terms which we know can be confusing which is why we're happy to explain them in layman's terms for you here:

 

BTE   Behind-the-ear

RITE   Receiver-in-the-ear (usually on a mini-BTE)

ITE      In-the-ear

ITC      In-the-canal

MIC     Mini-canal

CIC     Completely-in-the-canal
