What does NZAS mean?
NZAS stands for New Zealand Audiological Society. In New Zealand, Audiologists are not a registered profession. This means that people without University training can test your hearing and fit hearing aids. Audiologists like Sandra, Maria and Mike have been awarded NZAS membership. This means they:
- Are qualified Audiologists (Master of Audiology degrees)
- Have completed or are completing a Clinical Competence Certification year post-University
- Regularly participate in continuing education courses or activities
- Undergo regular peer review
- Maintain current Practicing Certificates
- Agree to abide by the NZAS Code of Ethics
- Agree to follow the NZAS Standards of Practice
- Have access to the latest information through local and international sources
- Are accountable
You should always check that your hearing care professional is a member of the NZAS.
