In-the-ear hearing aids are custom made to fit each person’s individual ear shape.
To make in-the-ear hearing aids we take a cast or ‘impression’ of the bowl part of the outer ear and the ear canal. ITEs are available in a variety of colours to match different skin tones and so improve cosmetic appeal.

Completely-In-The Canal (CIC)
These are the smallest and most discreet of the in-the-ear designs. CIC aids sit entirely inside the ear canal, so they’re almost invisible. They’re ideal for people with mild to moderate hearing loss who don’t want anyone to know they wear hearing aids.
ITC hearing aids sit in the lower part of the outer ear bowl and into the ear canal. They are still cosmetically appealing, and many people prefer them to CICs as they are a little more comfortable to wear and usually contain better sound processing features that improve hearing in noisy situations. They are best suited for mild to moderate hearing losses.
These hearing aid models fill most of the bowl of the outer ear. Their larger size means they can often fit more features in. They’re often more powerful than the smaller ITE models and can sometimes be fitted to severe hearing losses. Usually, ITEs have a larger battery size which is very helpful if you have dexterity issues or visual problems.
