Testimonial from Ron Thacker
After some 6 months of use, I have found NO circumstance where the aids are in any way a nuisance or a distraction, and when I turn them off at night, the world goes very quiet. Likewise, I have had no physical problems or discomfort in wearing them and am usually forgetful of having them in. |
Hearing Aids
When you imagine someone wearing hearing aids, do you immediately think of those big, clunky devices that Poppa used to wear that never seemed to work very well and looked enormous?
Well take a breath and relax because thankfully, today’s hearing aids are smaller, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. Most hearing aids sold in NZ are digital, and thanks to amazing technological advances these digital hearing aids are enabling people to easily hear better without the niggles and cosmetic concerns of the past.
You might be surprised to learn that there are many different styles and types of hearing aids to choose from in New Zealand, plus there are many advanced technology features available to make the aids easy to use and to help reduce noise in difficult listening situations like restaurants or cafes.
It can seem like there are too many choices and that’s where we come in. It’s our job at Cto make sure you have all the information you need so you understand the different options, and then we can help you to choose which hearing aids are right for you.
Please read on to find out more about the different types of hearing aids, how they work and what you can expect from them.
Types of Hearing AidsCan you picture Poppa’s big old hearing aid? Or do you have an old hearing aid collecting dust in a drawer somewhere in your house? Well, let us introduce you to a new age in hearing solutions.
When it comes to hearing aids there are lots of options, and which ones suit you best will depend on your preferences, your lifestyle and your hearing loss. Some hearing aids are almost completely invisible and others have wild colours and patterns on them that make a statement, the choice is yours.
First of all you need to know what type and degree of hearing loss you have – you find out all about your hearing loss when you have your hearing assessed.
Hopefully you’ve already taken this important step and know all about your hearing loss. Usually, after the hearing assessment is completed we’ll sit with you and chat about your lifestyle and the types of listening situations you’re regularly in. We call this a hearing needs assessment. This information is vital as it helps us to determine which of the many available features your hearing aids should include. Once we have a good idea of what features your hearing aids need so they’ll do the job you want them to do, we’ll explain them to you so you know how they’ll work. Then we can talk over your preferences on the size and colour and style of your aids. Please click on the links below to read about the different styles of hearing aids available in New Zealand:
